Best sunrise spots in Guangzhou

  1. Baiyun Mountain (白云山)

    Moxing Peak (382m) is the highest point in central Guangzhou with unobstructed eastern views over the city skyline. Entry costs 5 CNY; take Metro Line 2 to Baiyun Park station, then walk uphill for about 20 minutes.

  2. Yuexiu Park (越秀公园)

    The hilltop around Zhenhai Tower sits at roughly 70m with clear eastern sightlines over the old city center. Free entry, park opens at 6:00 AM. Metro Line 2 to Yuexiu Park station, north exit.

  3. Ersha Island (二沙岛)

    The eastern tip of the island faces upriver with no tall buildings blocking the horizon. The riverside path is publicly accessible around the clock.

  4. Haixinsha Island (海心沙)

    This open island in the Pearl River faces east toward Guangzhou Bridge. Access via the APM line station Haixinsha; no entry fee for the park areas.

  1. Ersha Island (二沙岛)

    From the western end, you look toward the Zhujiang New Town skyline and Canton Tower. The open lawn areas along Xingsheng Road are popular for evening walks.

  2. Haixinsha Island (海心沙)

    The northwestern side offers close-range views of the Zhujiang New Town towers. Combines well with a Pearl River evening cruise departing from the nearby pier.

  3. Canton Tower (广州塔)

    At 600m the tallest structure in the city, with an outdoor observation deck at 488m facing west over the Pearl River delta. Opens daily at 9:30 AM, tickets from 150 CNY. Metro Line 3 or APM to Canton Tower station.

  4. Shamian Island (沙面岛)

    This small historic island faces west along the Pearl River. The tree-lined promenade on the south side has benches with open river views. Free access, 5 minutes from Huangsha Metro station (Lines 1 and 6).

  5. Liede Bridge (猎德大桥)

    Cable-stayed bridge crossing the Pearl River between Zhujiang New Town and Haizhu district. Pedestrian walkways on both sides face west toward the CBD skyline. Free access from either bank.
