From the west side of the observation deck, the sun sets behind the Tangerang skyline. The surrounding Merdeka Square (75 hectares) is free to enter and offers open-sky views from ground level if you prefer not to queue for the deck.
The western treeline across the lake creates a layered horizon. Benches along the lake path face west. Noticeably quieter in the late afternoon than central Jakarta spots, with free parking available.
