Abidjan is Ivory Coast's economic capital with over 6 million inhabitants, built around the Ébrié Lagoon with the Atlantic Ocean directly to the south. The open water in multiple directions and the flat coastal terrain give several districts clear horizons for both sunrise and sunset.
The waterfront at the eastern edge of Le Plateau faces directly east over the Ébrié Lagoon with no buildings blocking the view. Free access, roughly 5 minutes on foot from the Plateau bus terminal.
This 390 m bridge between Plateau and Treichville has pedestrian walkways on both sides. The eastern railing gives an elevated, unobstructed view of the sunrise over the lagoon; about 300 m on foot from Treichville market.
The upper terrace of this Cocody hotel faces east over the lagoon; guests and bar visitors have access from around 7 AM. Taxis from Plateau take about 10 minutes and cost around 2,000 CFA.
The 3 km promenade along the lagoon's western shore faces southwest; the section nearest the Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire has the least obstructed sightlines. Multiple open-air restaurant terraces along the route.
Vridi beach, roughly 15 km from Plateau via the Vridi Canal bridge, faces south over an open Atlantic horizon. No entry fee; the beach is publicly accessible.
The western side of the same terrace gives a direct sightline over the lagoon toward the setting sun. The rooftop bar is open daily; a taxi from Plateau costs around 2,000 CFA.
The botanical garden's upper terraces sit on a bluff about 40 m above the lagoon, 15 km east of central Abidjan, looking west toward the city skyline. Open during garden hours; admission is free or low-cost.
