Best sunrise spots in Vilnius

1. Three Crosses Hill (Trijų Kryžių kalnas)

   The hill sits on the eastern edge of the Old Town and overlooks the Vilnelė River valley with a clear sightline toward the rising sun. Paved paths lead up from Kalnų Park; the climb takes about 10 minutes and entry is free.

2. Bernardinai Garden (Bernardinų sodas)

   Located at the foot of Gediminas Hill beside St. Anne's Church, the garden faces east toward the Vilnelė valley with the castle hill in silhouette against the morning sky. Open daily without charge, centrally located in the Old Town.

3. Gediminas Tower (Gedimino pilies bokštas)

   Atop Gediminas Hill, the tower faces the Vilnelė valley to the east where the sun rises. Entry costs €8 (includes the museum); opens at 10:00, so best suited for late autumn and winter sunrises. Note: the funicular is currently not operating.

4. Vilnius TV Tower (Vilniaus televizijos bokštas)

   The observation deck at 165 meters in the Karoliniškes district, about 4 km west of Old Town, looks east over the entire city center. Entry costs €4-5 for adults; trolleybuses 1, 3, and 9 stop at the tower.

5. St. John's Bell Tower (Šv. Jono bažnyčios varpinė)

   The 60-meter bell tower of Vilnius University offers 360-degree views from the heart of the Old Town, with the eastern horizons visible over the city's lower rooftops. Entry costs €5; an elevator is available; open seasonally from May 18 to October 31, daily 10:00-19:00.

Best sunset spots in Vilnius

1. Subačiaus Viewpoint (Subačiaus apžvalgos aikštelė)

   A free hilltop terrace south of the Old Town, looking northwest over Gediminas Tower and the Old Town skyline. About 2 km from Cathedral Square; limited parking on Subačiaus Street.

2. Vingio Park (Vingio parkas)

   The park fills a large bend of the Neris River on the western edge of the city, with open meadows offering unobstructed sightlines to the west. Free access around the clock; bus 123 stops near the park entrance on Čiurlionio Street.

3. Gediminas Tower (Gedimino pilies bokštas)

   The western face of the hill overlooks the Neris River and Cathedral Square directly below. In summer the site stays open until 21:00, which covers most sunset times.

4. Vilnius TV Tower (Vilniaus televizijos bokštas)

   The western side of the deck has an unobstructed view over the forests beyond the city boundary. Open until 22:00 (23:00 on Fridays and Saturdays), which covers sunsets throughout the year.

5. St. John's Bell Tower (Šv. Jono bažnyčios varpinė)

   From the western side of the tower, the view reaches past the Old Town rooftops toward the distant hills. The central location means no travel time from the main tourist areas.
