Karachi's coastline along the Arabian Sea faces southwest, making it one of the few major South Asian cities with clear sea horizons for watching sunsets. The dry winter months from November to February offer the best visibility, with minimal haze and more predictable skies.

Best sunrise spots in Karachi

1. Manora Island

   Take the ferry from Kemari Jetty (around 15 minutes, PKR 100-200) and walk to the island's east side for a clear view of the sunrise above the Karachi harbor skyline. Early ferries run from around 6 AM.

2. Hawks Bay

   About 20 km southwest of the city center via Hawks Bay Road, the beach faces an open eastern horizon across flat coastal land. Quiet on weekday mornings, with almost no other visitors at sunrise. No entry fee.

3. Hill Park

   A 62-acre hilltop park in Jamshed Town, about 10 km from the city center. The elevated position and open eastern sky make it one of the few places in central Karachi to watch the sunrise above the city roofline. Entry fee around PKR 20-30.

Best sunset spots in Karachi

1. Sea View Beach

   The most accessible sunset spot in Karachi, stretching along the Clifton waterfront about 8 km from the city center. Free entry; the beach gets crowded on weekends and public holidays, so arriving 30-40 minutes before sunset is advisable.

2. Manora Island

   From the lighthouse on the island's western tip, the sun sets over open sea with no buildings in the way. Check the last ferry return time before you go, as service ends in the early evening.

3. Hawks Bay

   The beach faces southwest, giving a clear line of sight to the sun going down over the Arabian Sea. Private transport required as public transit does not reach this area.

4. Bagh Ibn e Qasim

   This large public park on the Clifton waterfront, adjacent to Sea View Beach, has wide open lawns facing southwest toward the sea. Free entry; noticeably less crowded than the beach itself, with benches and space to sit comfortably.

5. Port Grand

   A waterfront food and entertainment complex near Karachi Port, with terraced seating along the harbor facing southwest. Entry is PKR 1,000 (including a food voucher of PKR 500). Open from 4 PM; gets busy on Thursday and Friday evenings.
