Istanbul straddles the Bosphorus strait, offering waterfront and hilltop vantage points on both the European and Asian sides. The east-west orientation of the Golden Horn and the city's hilly terrain provide clear sightlines for both sunrise and sunset.
The highest point on the Asian side at 268 m with a full eastern horizon. The park is open 24 hours and reachable by bus from Üsküdar (lines 15F, 11M).
The pedestrian upper deck offers an unobstructed eastern view up the Golden Horn. Accessible via Karaköy or Eminönü tram stops, no entry fee.
Hilltop above the Eyüp district with a southeast-facing panorama over the Golden Horn. Reachable by cable car from Eyüp (about 15 TL) or a 20-minute uphill walk.
The mosque's garden terrace sits on one of Istanbul's seven hills, facing east over the Golden Horn. Free access, 5-minute walk from Vezneciler metro station (M2 line).
The western side of the hilltop overlooks the entire Old City peninsula and both Bosphorus bridges. Benches and a viewing terrace face directly west.
From the western railing, the sun drops behind the Süleymaniye Mosque silhouette. The lower deck restaurants serve tea if you want to linger.
Waterfront promenade on the Asian side with a direct western view of the Maiden's Tower and Old City. 10-minute walk south from the Üsküdar ferry terminal, free access.
A 16-hectare historic park on a west-facing slope above the Bosphorus in Üsküdar. Free entry, open until dusk. The upper paths offer the widest angle toward the European shore.
The long waterfront promenade faces due west across the Bosphorus to the Old City skyline. Ferries from Eminönü or Karaköy run every 10 minutes (about 10 TL one way).
