Best sunrise spots in Abu Dhabi

1. Abu Dhabi Corniche

   The 8km Corniche runs east-west along the coast; the northeastern sections near Al Bateen face the downtown skyline, which catches direct light at sunrise. The beachfront promenade is public and free, with parking along Corniche Road.

2. Eastern Mangroves Promenade

   This waterfront walkway faces east over the mangrove lagoon, providing one of the few flat, unobstructed horizons for sunrise in Abu Dhabi. Free access; the promenade starts near the Eastern Mangroves Hotel off Mohammed bin Zayed City.

3. Saadiyat Island Beach

   Saadiyat Beach faces northeast across open water, offering an uninterrupted sea horizon at sunrise. About 20 minutes by car from downtown; the public beach near the Cultural District is free, while the main Saadiyat Public Beach charges AED 25 on weekdays.

4. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

   The white marble exterior shifts from pale grey to warm gold in the first minutes after sunrise. The service roads along the highway perimeter allow views of the domes at any hour; the interior opens to visitors at 9am. Entry is free.

Best sunset spots in Abu Dhabi

1. Abu Dhabi Corniche

   The western sections of the Corniche face open water with a clean Gulf horizon. Designated beach areas (sections A-G) charge AED 5-10 entry; the paved promenade is free.

2. Observation Deck at 300

   Situated 300 meters up in Etihad Towers (Tower 2), this deck faces west over the Arabian Gulf and is one of the highest sunset vantage points in the city. Tickets cost around AED 75; located on Corniche Road West near the Breakwater.

3. Yas Beach

   The beach on the western shore of Yas Island faces directly west over open water. Entry is AED 50 (includes a food voucher). About 35km from Abu Dhabi city center via the Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway; parking on Yas Island is free.

4. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

   The reflecting pools in the courtyard and the marble facades are especially photogenic during the last hour before dark. Free entry for visitors; last admission is usually around 10pm. The mosque is closed to tourists on Saturdays.
