Dubai sits at 25 degrees North on the Arabian Gulf coast, with flat desert to the east and open water to the west. The flat terrain and year-round clear skies make unobstructed sunrise and sunset views accessible across the city.
The observation deck on Level 124 faces east over the flat desert; the sunrise slot (5:00-6:30 AM) costs AED 159 and the deck is far quieter than during the day. Book online weeks in advance.
The 150m structure straddles old and new Dubai; the east-facing glass bridge looks directly over historic Deira and the creek, which light up as the sun rises. Entry AED 50, opens at 8:00 AM.
Three free bird hides on the mangrove edge face east over the tidal flats; up to 3,000 flamingos feed in the shallows at dawn and are most active in winter months. The sanctuary opens at 7:30 AM (summer: 6:00 AM), about 15 minutes by car from Downtown.
35 km south of Downtown via E311 onto Al Qudra Road (D63), the flat desert gives a 360-degree horizon with minimal light pollution. Free, open 24 hours, car access only.
The restored heritage promenade at the western mouth of Dubai Creek faces east along the waterway; morning light catches the white wind-tower facades and wooden abras crossing from 6 AM (AED 1 per trip). Metro: Al Ghubaiba on the Green Line, adjacent to the waterfront.
Prime-hour tickets (4:00-6:30 PM, from AED 259) cover the west-facing side overlooking Jumeirah Beach and the Gulf. The Level 148 SKY deck (AED 399) adds extra elevation and a smaller crowd.
From the west side, the Sheikh Zayed Road skyline is visible with the Gulf in the background. Last entry is 8:30 PM; nearest metro is Al Jafiliya on the Red Line, about a 10-minute walk.
Free 24/7 public beach facing due west into the Arabian Gulf, with the Burj Al Arab silhouetted directly against the setting sun. Parking fills by 5 PM on weekends; Bus 81 from Mall of the Emirates metro station also reaches it.
Free open-air promenade at the south tip of the Palm with an unobstructed westward view across the Gulf and the Dubai Marina skyline to the north. Reach it via the Palm Monorail from Dubai Marina metro, then a short taxi ride.
The Al Qudra Lakes add water reflections to the foreground; conditions are best November through March when temperatures stay around 20-25 degrees Celsius.
