Caracas occupies a narrow Andean valley at roughly 900 m elevation, with the Waraira Repano mountain range closing off the northern sky and open horizons to the east and west. The valley shape and surrounding hills give multiple elevated vantage points within the city and above it.
Hiking trails from the Maripérez trailhead (access fee: $1 USD) reach east-facing slopes above the city before dawn; the park is open daily for hikers even when the cable car is closed. The upper ridgeline sits above 2,000 m with clear views toward the Caribbean coast.
This 76-hectare park in eastern Caracas has open lawns and a central lake that catch morning light from the east, with Metro stop Parque del Este (Line 1) at the main entrance. Gates open at 6 AM on weekdays; admission is free.
Inside the Ciudad Universitaria campus, the botanical garden's open sections face east with minimal building obstruction. Metro Ciudad Universitaria (Line 1) is around 200 m from the entrance; free admission.
The plaza sits slightly elevated in eastern Caracas with a clear view east toward the valley rim where the sun rises above the residential hills. Metro Altamira (Line 1) is directly adjacent; 24-hour public access.
The cable car from Estación Maripérez runs Wed-Fri 12pm-7pm and Sat-Sun 10am-7pm; tickets cost $10 for nationals and $30 for foreign tourists. The upper station at 2,100 m overlooks the city to the south and west.
Established in 1932 near Plaza Venezuela, the park's western edge offers an unobstructed line toward the sunset horizon. Metro Bellas Artes (Line 1) is 300 m away; free entry.
Low surrounding buildings leave the western horizon open from the central fountain area, with the Ávila hillside framing the north. No access restrictions.
This 1.5 km ceremonial boulevard in the Fuerte Tiuna district opens to a wide western horizon across the valley floor. Reachable by bus or taxi from Plaza Venezuela; free and publicly accessible.
